Requirements
- Have 3+ years of experience managing engineers.
- Have experience giving feedback and developing people.
- Have 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Be able to review designs and challenge the team's technical approach.
- Have hands-on experience with Python.
- Have experience delivering software in real client environments.
- Be curious about agents, evaluations, and multi-agent systems, including where they are reliable and where human intervention is needed.
- Be fluent with AI coding tools.
- Bonus: Have management experience in consulting, services, or a forward deployed engineering organization, or experience taking a team or practice from zero to one.
Responsibilities
- Manage engineers up to senior level, provide direct and actionable feedback, and coach engineers on execution and progression toward tech lead.
- Review architecture, agent, prompt, and evaluation design on engagements.
- Step into difficult technical and client situations, including production regressions and unclear requirements, and make decisions.
- Raise delivery risks early.
- Run engagement-level client and stakeholder relationships alongside product and client partners.
- Manage team transitions, plan staffing ahead, and flag risks before they affect clients.
- Escalate conflicts across engagements to the Head of Engineering.
- Interview, calibrate, close, and onboard engineers against the established hiring bar.
- Follow team practices, identify what is not working, and share patterns with the wider team.
