Requirements
- 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in data centers, facilities management, high-performance computing, or other critical infrastructure environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Deep technical expertise in HVAC, cooling systems, chilled-water systems, thermal management, and mechanical infrastructure supporting high-performance computing environments.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering projects, including budgets, schedules, vendors, and stakeholder communication.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose complex mechanical issues and develop solutions under operational constraints.
- Leadership experience guiding cross-functional teams and mentoring less-experienced engineers.
- Knowledge of energy-efficient technologies, sustainability practices, and ways to improve the environmental performance of large-scale data center facilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain technical information to diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining safety, reliability, and quality standards.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 25% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of mechanical systems for data center operations, including HVAC, cooling, chilled-water systems, and thermal management.
- Establish and maintain engineering standards for mechanical infrastructure and support the implementation and replacement of critical systems.
- Optimize mechanical infrastructure for reliability, operational efficiency, sustainability, and cost effectiveness.
- Partner with cross-functional teams on capacity planning and scalable infrastructure solutions.
- Diagnose complex mechanical issues and develop practical solutions for day-to-day operations.
- Develop initiatives to reduce energy consumption and the carbon footprint of data center facilities.
- Manage multidisciplinary projects from design through installation and commissioning, including timelines, budgets, quality, and stakeholder alignment.
- Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and vendors to source equipment and materials that meet specifications, standards, and budgets.
- Lead and mentor engineering professionals and collaborate with electrical, civil, IT, and facilities teams.
- Review and develop maintenance practices, and ensure mechanical systems comply with applicable regulations, safety requirements, and engineering standards.
