Requirements
- Be currently matriculated in law school.
- Have completed at least one year of law school by the start of the internship.
- Demonstrate commitment to advancing and protecting the civil liberties of LGBTQ+ people and people living with HIV.
- Have excellent research skills, including internet and legal database research.
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and strong organizing and time-management skills.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Show initiative in seeing projects through to completion.
- Commit to 10, 15, or 20 hours per week for 12 consecutive weeks.
- Tie the internship to a formal education program through integrated coursework or academic credit.
Responsibilities
- Conduct legal and factual research for current and prospective litigation.
- Draft research memoranda for current and prospective litigation.
- Potentially draft litigation documents, including discovery requests, affidavits, and motions.
- Research and draft materials for legislative advocacy.
- Research and draft materials for public education.
