Requirements
- Be a currently matriculated legal student.
- Have completed at least one year of law school before the internship begins, or be enrolled in an LLM or SJD program.
- Have excellent research skills, including internet and legal database research.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and strong organization and time-management skills.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Show initiative in seeing projects through to completion.
- Be committed to civil liberties, civil rights, social justice, and gender justice.
- Commit 15–20 hours per week for 12 consecutive weeks.
- Tie the internship to formal education through integrated coursework or academic credit.
Responsibilities
- Conduct legal and policy research.
- Draft legal memoranda.
- Research prospects for new litigation, including factual and legal claims.
- Research and draft public education materials.
- Track and analyze legislative bills.
- Assist with litigation, policy advocacy, and communications campaigns.
