Requirements
- Be currently matriculated at a U.S. law school.
- Have completed the required coursework at school before the internship commences.
- Be based in the U.S. for the entire duration of the internship.
- Have strong research skills, including internet and legal database research.
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and strong organization and time-management skills.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Show initiative in seeing projects through to completion.
- Be committed to civil liberties, civil rights, and social justice.
- Commit 20 hours per week for 12 consecutive weeks.
- Tie the internship to formal education through integrated coursework or academic credit.
Responsibilities
- Draft memoranda, affidavits, and briefs.
- Conduct legal and policy research.
- Research prospects for new litigation, including factual and legal claims.
- Research and draft materials for public education.
- Track and analyze legislative bills.
- Work with attorneys to develop and litigate cases across jurisdictions.
