Requirements
- Be enrolled at a U.S. law school.
- Have completed at least one year of law school before the internship begins.
- Demonstrate strong research skills, including internet and legal database research.
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Show initiative in seeing projects through to completion.
- Demonstrate commitment to civil liberties, civil rights, and social justice.
- Commit to advancing the ACLU’s mission and working collaboratively and respectfully.
Responsibilities
- Draft memoranda, affidavits, and briefs.
- Conduct legal and policy research.
- Research potential litigation, including factual and legal claims.
- Research and draft materials for public education.
- Track and analyze legislative bills.
