Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
8+ years of experience in database engineering, data engineering, or database administration.
Hands-on experience with GCP technologies (BigQuery, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL and SQL Server).
Hands-on experience with Azure Database for PostgreSQL and Azure SQL Database.
Experience with high availability, disaster recovery, replication, and performance tuning (e.g., Always On Availability Groups).
Experience with version control and CI/CD tools (Git, Azure DevOps, Cloud Build).
Working knowledge of Azure Data Factory, SSIS/SSRS, and GCP Dataflow or Dataproc.
Proficiency in Unix scripting.
Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills with experience working with US-based business teams.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Ability to work US Eastern Time hours (overlap from 7:30 PM to 11:30 PM IST).
Quiet, dedicated workspace with reliable internet connection of at least 50 Mbps.

Responsibilities

Design and implement data architectures and database computing platforms in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Influence database and data-platform architecture regarding reliability, security, performance, scalability, and cost.
Lead or support strategic data migration and modernization initiatives.
Own day-to-day production database operations, including tuning, maintenance, backup, recovery, and high-availability management.
Build and maintain self-healing database capabilities using AI-based observability and cloud-native monitoring.
Manage PostgreSQL and SQL Server environments across GCP and Azure.
Design and operate BigQuery data warehouse capabilities including schema design and query optimization.
Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and support CI/CD workflows.
