Requirements
- 5+ years as a software engineer, with 2+ years leading a team of engineers in a product company.
- Strong Linux proficiency at a software engineer (user) level.
- Comfortable reading and reviewing production code in modern high-level languages like Python or Go.
- Experience debugging live systems on the box.
- Track record of shipping and operating a distributed backend service under production load.
- Experience carrying a pager and running incidents.
- Experience mastering a complex technical domain quickly and making credible architectural decisions.
- Practical fluency with observability and data tooling like Grafana, Kibana, or Elasticsearch.
- Demonstrated people leadership including 1:1s, performance conversations, hiring, and mentoring.
- Experience working in an agentic / AI-assisted development workflow.
- Understanding of ML-driven systems, model quality evaluation, training, and production operations.
- Professional proficiency in English, written and spoken.
- Availability to work EU hours.
Responsibilities
- Turn the product backlog into a credible, sequenced engineering plan including estimates and dependencies.
- Run the team's weekly cadence including planning, release readiness, and status reporting.
- Own engineering quality gates for model releases, ensuring measured catch rates and rollback paths.
- Own the architecture of the email stack, reviewing designs, writing ADRs, and making build-vs-buy decisions.
- Manage production health including SLOs, alerting, capacity, and deliverability infrastructure.
- Lead the distributed team through 1:1s, goal setting, performance reviews, and hiring.
- Model and coach the team on AI-augmented engineering and coding agent effectiveness.
