Requirements
- Several years of professional software engineering experience at a genuinely senior level.
- Proven production experience with Python and Flask, including SQLAlchemy or a comparable ORM.
- Strong experience with relational databases, particularly MySQL or MariaDB.
- Frontend development experience with Jinja2 templates, Bootstrap, JavaScript/jQuery, and Webpack.
- Hands-on experience designing, developing, and integrating REST APIs.
- Strong spoken and written English, with the ability to communicate clearly with external clients.
- Experience working in consulting, professional services, IT services, or outsourcing is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as a peer to another senior engineer.
- Strong ownership mindset, including the ability to manage scope, communicate progress, and identify risks.
- Ability to learn quickly and become productive within an unfamiliar codebase.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with another senior engineer to plan, build, test, and ship software while sharing ownership of delivery.
- Work directly with the client's team on a daily basis through standups, status updates, technical discussions, and scope conversations.
- Develop and maintain backend applications using Python and Flask, including database interactions through SQLAlchemy or a comparable ORM.
- Build and maintain frontend functionality using a server-rendered technology stack, including Jinja2, Bootstrap, JavaScript/jQuery, and Webpack.
- Design, implement, and maintain REST APIs and integrations with external systems and services.
- Own assigned work end-to-end, from understanding requirements and implementation through delivery and follow-up.
- Proactively identify risks, communicate timelines, track scope, and surface potential delivery issues without relying on a dedicated project manager.
