Requirements
- 6+ years of experience building large-scale backend systems and APIs.
- Proficiency in Python, Go, React, and TypeScript.
- Active, daily user of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot.
- Strong command of relational and NoSQL databases, SQL, and database modeling.
- Experience building and observing applications on AWS.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Datadog, or comparable observability tooling.
- Ability to context switch quickly across concurrent workstreams.
- Experience working on both 0-to-1 initiatives and complex existing systems.
- Strong instincts for technical tradeoffs informed by engineering and business priorities.
- Clear, direct communication skills suitable for an async-first environment.
Responsibilities
- Take deep ownership of systems and product areas as the go-to technical expert.
- Independently investigate, design, and execute solutions across distributed systems.
- Architect, build, and maintain highly available, scalable REST APIs and backend services.
- Drive system decoupling, modularization, and technical debt reduction.
- Build using concurrent autonomous agent workflows and AI-first development practices.
- Stay at the forefront of emerging AI tooling to improve team-wide engineering workflows.
- Identify and eliminate single points of failure to improve system resilience.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, data, and go-to-market teams in an async-first environment.
