Requirements
- Significant professional software engineering experience, operating at the Staff level.
- Demonstrated experience building reliable agentic or LLM-based systems.
- Expertise in multi-step orchestration, tool use, guardrails, and recovery mechanisms.
- Strong distributed systems fundamentals including coordination, consistency, and failure handling.
- Proficiency in Go, Rust, or Python, with the ability to read and modify the others.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and navigate unfamiliar codebases.
- Track record of delivering outcomes from ambiguous requirements.
- Experience designing evaluation frameworks for AI-generated systems.
- Ability to raise engineering quality through leadership, mentoring, and design reviews.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-team alignment.
- Experience with AI-assisted engineering workflows.
Responsibilities
- Set the technical direction for agentic systems, including orchestration, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop strategies.
- Identify and address friction points in the software development lifecycle using technical or process-based solutions.
- Lead initiatives from initial hypotheses through architecture, implementation, and production deployment.
- Operate effectively as a generalist across large, complex codebases.
- Apply distributed systems expertise to resolve concurrency, scaling, and consistency challenges.
- Establish evaluation frameworks to ensure the accuracy and reliability of agent-driven solutions.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through design reviews and technical guidance.
- Collaborate with distributed teams to align on technical roadmaps and priorities.
- Communicate technical progress and architectural decisions to senior stakeholders.
- Contribute to hiring and technical leadership assessments for Staff-level candidates.
