Requirements
- Substantial experience building and operating cloud data platforms, ideally including greenfield design experience.
- Strong judgement and comfort making consequential decisions with incomplete information.
- Deep SQL proficiency.
- Strong command of a cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks.
- Experience using a transformation framework like dbt with clear structuring opinions.
- Demonstrated experience with ELT and change-data-capture across relational sources.
- Proficiency with AWS, including read replicas, object storage, and cross-region data movement.
- Applied experience with dimensional or medallion modeling.
- Proficiency with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect.
- Consistent habit of implementing data quality testing.
- Experience with healthcare data and PHI handling is considered a plus.
- Experience with multi-tenant data isolation, semantic layers, and modern BI tooling is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Own the implementation design across the platform, including ingestion, modeling, and consumption surfaces.
- Shape detailed architecture based on high-level direction in partnership with the architecture team.
- Own integration design across varied production source systems.
- Build ingestion pipelines from production systems.
- Model raw data into business-ready datasets with standardized metric definitions.
- Establish engineering standards for data quality and testing.
- Partner with platform and operations teams on safe, low-impact database extraction.
- Collaborate directly with data stakeholders to ensure the platform answers real business questions.
- Mentor data engineers and guide their professional development.
