Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, Database Administration, Software Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 2–4 years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server architecture, configuration, security, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.
- Proficiency with T-SQL, SSMS, SQL Server Agent, indexing, and stored procedures.
- Experience with high-availability and disaster-recovery technologies like Always On Availability Groups.
- Experience using PowerShell for task automation.
- Familiarity with cloud-hosted SQL Server (Azure/AWS) and infrastructure concepts like Windows Server, Active Directory, and virtualization.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and troubleshooting skills.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300) strongly preferred.
- Additional certifications in Azure, security, or data-platforms are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, monitor, patch, upgrade, and maintain SQL Server database environments across development, test, and production.
- Perform SQL performance tuning, including query analysis, execution-plan review, and optimization of stored procedures.
- Design, implement, test, and maintain backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions like Always On Availability Groups.
- Manage database security, including permissions, encryption, and audit controls.
- Partner with developers to review database designs, queries, and deployment scripts for scalability and reliability.
- Automate routine administration tasks using PowerShell and T-SQL.
- Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and production support for database-related issues.
