Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology (electric power option preferred).
- 8+ years of relevant engineering or field experience.
- FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification required; PE (Professional Engineer) license preferred.
- Knowledge of utility substation design including voltage distribution above 240kV, switchgear, motor control centers, and industrial instrumentation.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD.
- High proficiency with power system software such as DIgSILENT/PowerFactory, EasyPower, ETAP, or SKM, CDEGS, and CYMCAP.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Proven record of high-quality work with attention to detail.
- Strong command of the English language.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop staff.
- Good interpersonal and people skills.
- Ability to lift 50lbs and perform occasional field work.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of engineers, drafters, designers, and/or technicians within the Utility Substations group.
- Lead detailed design for protection and control packages including one-line/three-line diagrams, relay schematics, SCADA, and grounding design.
- Perform and coordinate power system studies such as short circuit, load flow, relay coordination, arc flash, and harmonic analysis.
- Oversee work quality, coordinate project assignments, and conduct performance reviews and individualized development planning for team members.
- Support business development as a Seller-Doer, prepare proposals, and manage engineering budgets.
- Provide field assistance, troubleshooting, and observation reports as required.
- Maintain relationships with clients and adhere to industry codes, standards, and safety practices.
