Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience handling significant litigation claims with exposures of $500,000 or more.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and address complex coverage issues and conduct thorough investigations.
- Proven experience establishing timely and accurate reserves and developing detailed action plans.
- Strong knowledge of tort and contract law.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, and collaboration skills.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization abilities.
- Effective presentation skills.
- Working knowledge of legal billing software, claims management systems, spreadsheet applications, and word-processing software.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment with limited supervision.
- Adjuster licenses for Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, or the ability to obtain the required licenses within 90 days of hire.
- BA/BS degree preferred, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage litigated and other complex, high-exposure liability claims through coverage analysis, investigation, damage evaluation, reserving, negotiation, and resolution.
- Handle claims involving complex coverage issues, catastrophic bodily injuries, personal and advertising injuries, and employment practices liability.
- Develop positive and effective working relationships with panel counsel and collaborate on cost-efficient litigation strategies.
- Work with counsel to develop detailed action plans focused on effective case management and early resolution where appropriate.
- Prepare and present large-loss reports for significant claims.
- Establish timely and accurate claim and expense reserves based on thorough exposure analysis.
- Negotiate and communicate claim settlements within established authority limits.
- Attend mediations and trials and actively participate in litigation-related proceedings.
- Draft denial letters, Reservation of Rights letters, and other complex claims correspondence.
