Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- At least 5 years of relevant FOIA experience.
- Expertise in reviewing and handling federal FOIA cases.
- Advanced knowledge of FOIA exemptions and the Privacy Act.
- Proficiency in disclosure analysis, appeals, and litigation support.
- Experience using eDiscovery and electronic case-management tools.
- Experience with document redaction tools.
- Ability to analyze complex or sensitive records independently.
- Strong analytical, writing, quality-control, and organizational skills.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a required security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Review and process new, open, routine, complex, and backlogged FOIA requests.
- Determine whether records are responsive to assigned requests.
- Analyze records and recommend the appropriate application of FOIA and Privacy Act exemptions.
- Prepare records for release by applying redactions.
- Draft correspondence to requesters and coordinate with records custodians.
- Support FOIA appeals and litigation by organizing case files and preparing documentation.
- Utilize case-management, eDiscovery, SharePoint, and Box systems.
- Record case actions and determinations accurately in tracking systems.
- Prepare document indices, status reports, and case-closure documentation.
