Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, or a related field (Master's or Doctorate preferred).
- Minimum 7 to 10 years of experience in medical journalism, health communications, or medical writing.
- Medical Writer Certified (MWC) credential or equivalent preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in reporting, writing, and editing medical and scientific content.
- Advanced ability to evaluate and interpret scientific literature, research, and clinical evidence.
- Knowledge of health literacy best practices.
- Proficiency with WCMS (e.g., Adobe Experience Manager).
- Familiarity with SEO, user experience (UX), and web accessibility best practices.
- Understanding of basic HTML and web development concepts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and collaboration tools (e.g., Monday.com).
- Ability to travel periodically for team meetings, conferences, or training.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic identification of emerging time-sensitive oncology topics and evaluate for integration in news and cancer.org content.
- Write, edit, and refine cancer news and information to engage public audiences with clarity, accuracy, and relevance.
- Develop innovative content and storytelling approaches to strengthen visibility and engagement.
- Conduct interviews with clinicians, researchers, and other subject matter experts.
- Collaborate with medical editors, the SEO team, and editorial staff to shape editorial strategy, maintain style, and address content gaps.
