Requirements
- Professional experience writing, deploying, and maintaining client-side code for real-world, API-driven single-page applications.
- Proficiency with TypeScript, React, and related technologies, including styling, state management, and efficient data exchange over HTTP.
- Ability to work with legacy technologies such as Backbone and CoffeeScript.
- Recent experience giving and receiving code reviews.
- Ability to independently set up and troubleshoot a local development environment.
- Fluency with Git.
- Proficiency with spoken and written English.
- Interest in data collection and improving humanitarian survey platforms.
- Ability to work overlap with Eastern time zone.
- Availability of at least 30-40 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Search and read extensive, long-lived code bases to understand existing behavior and conventions.
- Recognize when existing conventions may no longer be best practice and suggest improvements.
- Write robust, concise, and reusable code with tests and documentation.
- Review other developers' code and provide constructive feedback.
- Incorporate feedback from code reviews to improve skills and align with team standards.
- Use AI-assisted development tools effectively while maintaining code quality.
- Investigate bug reports and create actionable resolution plans.
- Scope, prioritize, estimate, and organize work into manageable tasks.
- Attend regular video-conference check-ins.
- Communicate with the public and support staff.
