Requirements
- Professional experience writing, deploying, and maintaining client-side code for real-world, API-driven single-page applications.
- Proficiency with TypeScript, React, and related technologies (styling, state management, HTTP data exchange).
- Ability to work with legacy technologies such as Backbone and CoffeeScript.
- Recent experience giving and receiving code reviews.
- Ability to independently set up and troubleshoot a local development environment.
- Proficiency with spoken and written English.
- Fluency with Git.
- Availability to overlap with US Eastern time zone working hours.
- Minimum 30 hours per week availability (preferably 35 or more).
Responsibilities
- Search and read an extensive, long-lived code base to understand existing behavior and conventions.
- Recognize when existing conventions may no longer be the best approach and suggest improvements aligned with contemporary best practices.
- Write robust, concise, and reusable code with accompanying tests and documentation.
- Review other developers' code and provide constructive feedback.
- Incorporate feedback from code reviews to improve skills and align with team standards.
- Use AI-assisted development tools effectively while maintaining responsibility for code quality and correctness.
- Investigate bug reports from the support team, creating well-scoped fixes or actionable plans.
- Scope, prioritize, estimate, and organize work into manageably sized tasks.
- Attend regular video-conference check-ins with the technical team.
- Communicate with the public via support channels or forums.
