Requirements
- 3+ years of experience handling workers compensation claims.
- Must be well versed in California Compensation statute claims.
- College degree (B.A.) or equivalent experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong aptitude and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to quickly learn new software programs.
- Ability to abide by departmental policies and risk management controls.
Responsibilities
- Verify and determine coverage and compensability for lost time and complex medical-only assignments.
- Conduct telephone investigations and handle catastrophic claims under supervisory oversight.
- Evaluate and adjust claims within assigned authority limits, including setting and analyzing reserves.
- Coordinate return to work (RTW) and maintain claims diaries.
- Review medical bills for causal relationship and appropriateness of charges.
- Manage litigation on assigned files and attend account meetings.
- Assign and monitor nurse case management performance and billing.
