Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of total experience with 6+ years of professional backend or platform engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience building internal platforms or shared services used by multiple teams.
- Strong hands-on expertise in designing distributed systems, focusing on consistency, availability, and latency.
- Advanced proficiency in at least one backend language: Java, Go, Scala, Rust, or modern C++.
- Deep understanding of high-throughput messaging, streaming, and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, Pulsar, NATS).
- Strong working knowledge of data storage systems (relational, key-value, document, and search).
- Proven track record of leading multi-quarter technical initiatives across teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for documentation and presenting technical trade-offs.
- Ability to mentor engineers and improve engineering standards through design and code reviews.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate foundational platforms and shared services for internal engineering teams.
- Develop platform capabilities including request routing, traffic management, data fan-out, and caching layers.
- Implement asynchronous job execution and durable event processing systems.
- Ensure platform services handle high traffic volumes with predictable latency.
- Lead multi-quarter platform initiatives and conduct stakeholder management.
- Author technical design documents and present trade-offs to engineering teams.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to shaping engineering culture through reviews and onboarding.
