10+ years of related software engineering experience.
Proven track record of architecting and implementing microservice architectures at scale.
Strong proficiency in modern programming languages such as Java or Python.
Deep understanding of distributed system patterns including event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing.
Experience designing and implementing APIs (REST, GraphQL).
Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and infrastructure as code (AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes).
Expertise in observability, monitoring, and automated testing strategies.
Experience with data architecture, including relational and NoSQL databases.
Ability to lead large-scale technical initiatives and mentor engineers.
Strong knowledge of security principles including authentication and encryption.

Define and drive strategic direction for backend and full-stack engineering practices, architecture, and technical excellence.
Lead the development of scalable, reliable, and secure distributed systems for government customers.
Serve as technical authority for system architecture, data design, and engineering excellence.
Design and implement modern service architectures, data pipelines, and infrastructure patterns.
Deliver features for core services including customer intake and application screening.
Collaborate with stakeholders to balance technical feasibility with business requirements.
Establish and champion engineering best practices for API design, data modeling, testing, observability, and security.
Mentor and coach engineers to establish backend specialization pathways.
