Requirements
- 10+ years of related software engineering experience.
- Proven track record of architecting and implementing microservice architectures at scale.
- Strong proficiency in modern programming languages such as Java or Python.
- Deep understanding of distributed system patterns including event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing.
- Experience designing and implementing APIs (REST, GraphQL).
- Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and infrastructure as code (AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes).
- Expertise in observability, monitoring, and automated testing strategies.
- Experience with data architecture, including relational and NoSQL databases.
- Ability to lead large-scale technical initiatives and mentor engineers.
- Strong knowledge of security principles including authentication and encryption.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive strategic direction for backend and full-stack engineering practices, architecture, and technical excellence.
- Lead the development of scalable, reliable, and secure distributed systems for government customers.
- Serve as technical authority for system architecture, data design, and engineering excellence.
- Design and implement modern service architectures, data pipelines, and infrastructure patterns.
- Deliver features for core services including customer intake and application screening.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to balance technical feasibility with business requirements.
- Establish and champion engineering best practices for API design, data modeling, testing, observability, and security.
- Mentor and coach engineers to establish backend specialization pathways.
