Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Active CPA license.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Controller or core finance role.
- Direct experience with defense-related government contracts.
- Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS, DCAA audit requirements, and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
- Strong US GAAP technical foundation.
- Proven ability to build or significantly restructure/scale an accounting function.
- Experience in a startup or high-growth company environment is a strong plus.
- Hands-on operator comfortable managing both individual tasks and team development.
Responsibilities
- Own the full General Ledger and drive a timely monthly close process.
- Oversee AR/AP, ensuring disciplined vendor payments and timely government contract billing.
- Manage cost accounting and financial compliance for DoD/USG contracts, including FAR/DFARS/CAS and DCAA audit readiness.
- Establish and enforce internal controls and ensure US GAAP compliance.
- Evaluate and implement accounting software and ERP systems suited for a government contractor.
- Recruit and develop an internal accounting team to support company growth.
- Prepare financial statements, manage audits, and lead board-level investor reporting.
- Maintain cash flow visibility and deliver rolling forecasts and variance analysis.
