Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- 2+ years of experience leading teams of ~3-8 engineers or equivalent scope.
- Strong technical background in Python and Django or equivalent backend systems.
- Proven experience leading design reviews and enforcing engineering standards.
- Demonstrated track record of shipping on commitments and creating clarity in ambiguous environments.
- Deep personal practice of using AI daily for engineering, debugging, and management workflows.
- Experience managing performance, including mentorship, growth goals, and hiring.
- Ability to operate in a hands-on capacity to unblock the team or validate trade-offs.
- Experience in a startup or SaaS environment is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 4-6 backend engineers focused on core platform systems such as ledger, decisioning, and HRIS integrations.
- Manage team growth through 1:1s, performance management, and hiring while setting clear expectations.
- Own team execution, project outcomes, and operational health including production incidents.
- Lead design reviews and provide technical guidance by reviewing code, prototypes, and production debugging.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and Client Apps to sequence plans and ensure the team meets commitments.
- Drive AI adoption by integrating AI tools into daily workflows for coding, design, planning, and communication.
