Requirements
- 12–15+ years of progressive experience in payments accounting, controllership, or financial/treasury operations.
- Significant leadership experience within a FinTech, payment processor, or high-volume money-movement business.
- Deep understanding of payment processing, clearing, settlement, reconciliation, and customer-funds liabilities.
- Strong knowledge of payment methods including ACH, card networks, wires, and real-time payments.
- Experience leading corporate accounting organizations, including close processes, financial reporting, and audit support.
- Proven track record in designing maker/checker controls, approval authorities, and auditable manual-adjustment processes.
- Ability to partner with Product and Engineering to improve reconciliation platforms and treasury systems.
- Strong data orientation and analytical fluency; SQL skills are highly desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- CPA certification strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Accounting organization, including general ledger, financial reporting, payroll, and technical accounting.
- Oversee daily settlement and disbursement operations across various payment rails and manage client funds accounts.
- Own reconciliation across transaction systems, subledgers, bank accounts, and the general ledger.
- Partner with Product and Engineering to translate financial requirements into scalable automated workflows and control systems.
- Build and lead high-performing teams for accounting, reconciliation, and money movement operations.
- Manage external audits and regulatory examinations while maintaining robust internal controls.
