Job Details

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience working in programming languages like Golang, Python, or Java (Go is a plus).
Strong systems engineering background, specifically in distributed systems, operating systems, and databases.
Proven experience building and debugging complex production systems where correctness, reliability, and performance are critical.
Experience with cloud infrastructure and managing distributed databases in cloud-native environments.
Proficiency with modern software development practices including CI/CD, Docker, and Git.
Excellent communication skills for articulating technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proven ability to thrive in remote-first, cross-time-zone teams.
Nice to have: Experience building Kubernetes controllers or operators.
Nice to have: Familiarity with database internals such as compilers, indexing, query planning, and optimization.
Nice to have: Familiarity with modern authorization systems and access control models.

Research, design, implement, test, and release features across SpiceDB and AuthZed open-source projects.
Drive best practices in software development, testing, and CI/CD for platform robustness and scalability.
Practice 'operate what you build' by owning development, deployment, and on-call rotations.
Troubleshoot correctness, stability, and performance issues in distributed systems query execution.
Collaborate with open-source users, review contributions, and participate in technical discussions.
Optimize internal development processes and operational workflows.
Mentor team members and produce technical documentation, blogs, and talks.
