Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience.
- Strong foundation in data structures, distributed systems, algorithms, and software design.
- Experience with production systems, including load testing, tracing, and identifying CPU, I/O, or memory bottlenecks.
- Experience with on-call rotations and owning end-to-end release cycles.
- 2+ years of experience designing and evolving GraphQL schemas.
- Strong grasp of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and database theory.
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments.
- Proficiency with modern web frameworks such as Phoenix, Ruby on Rails, Fast API, Laravel, or Node.
- Experience with background job processing (e.g., Oban, Sidekiq, Celery).
- Experience with asynchronous event handling infrastructure (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS/SNS).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for authoring tech specs and runbooks.
Responsibilities
- Design, scale, and performance-tune GraphQL APIs, low-latency gRPC services, and SQL queries.
- Own technical problems of the highest scope and complexity, drafting and presenting technical proposals.
- Design, architect, and deliver new features end-to-end in an agile/scrum environment.
- Identify bottlenecks in production and drive scalability improvements.
- Set up and refine system monitoring and alerting using Datadog.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across business domains to deliver operational and efficiency improvements.
