Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or related field.
- Minimum 9 years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing professional staff and multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven experience developing and executing communications, media, engagement, or public affairs strategies.
- Track record of leading complex projects involving strategic planning, financial management, and stakeholder coordination.
- Experience cultivating relationships with donors, partners, media, and community stakeholders.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, mediation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to translate complex conservation issues into compelling messages for diverse audiences.
- Experience working within decentralized or geographically distributed organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, manage, and monitor budgets.
- Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of integrated communications strategies supporting conservation, programmatic, engagement, and fundraising objectives across the North America region.
- Direct complex communications projects and initiatives across multiple programs, stakeholders, and channels.
- Oversee communications activities spanning traditional media, social media, events, written content, visual storytelling, presentations, and stakeholder engagement.
- Manage and develop a team of communications professionals, providing direction, coaching, and performance support.
- Build and maintain strong relationships across communications, marketing, conservation programs, senior leadership, donors, board members, and external partners.
- Cultivate relationships with influential media contacts to strengthen visibility and public engagement.
- Support senior executives with strategic communications, staff engagement, and media interactions.
- Develop, manage, and evaluate project, program, and team budgets.
