Requirements
- A J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school (or the equivalent).
- Licensed to practice law in one or more U.S. states.
- At least 10 years of law firm and/or corporate legal department experience.
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex agreements in a healthcare, healthcare IT and/or life sciences environment.
- Understanding of technology and HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
- Experience with healthcare information technology (HIT) transactions.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills and judgment.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Ability to think strategically and engage in-house clients.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate complex agreements, including commercial, software licensing, SaaS and services agreements in a healthcare, healthcare information technology (HIT) and HIT medical device environment.
- Manage complex technology transactions from inception to closure.
- Assist in overseeing and improving the company’s contract management policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with the company’s procurement and contracting policies and procedures, and collaborate with the Contracts Manager to provide related guidance and training to business teams.
- Collaborate with the Privacy Officer and other members of the Legal Department to meet HIPAA privacy, HIPAA security and other compliance requirements.
- Cultivate strong relationships with business teams to help ensure that the company’s legal support needs are addressed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Collaborate with business teams to efficiently move transactions to closure.
- Manage and assist with additional transactional, corporate, compliance and other matters, as needed.
