Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
- 3+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Working knowledge of the subrogation industry.
- Basic knowledge of medical billing and healthcare terminology.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to interpret healthcare and benefits documentation such as EOB, UB-04, SPD, and EOC.
- Strong investigative and analytical skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage pressure and meet deadline-driven project and legal requirements.
- Experience in a legal office or casualty/health insurance is a plus.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload from case creation through final recovery, maintaining accurate and up-to-date notes and case records.
- Investigate and confirm third-party liability, probate matters, and beneficiary assets relevant to recovery.
- Communicate professionally with attorneys, insurance adjusters, medical providers, court personnel, recipients, family members, and clients.
- Negotiate and compromise claim and lien settlement amounts within applicable contractual guidelines.
- Perform basic and advanced document review, legal research, and case analysis to determine status and support progression.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, privacy, and government security requirements when handling protected health information.
- Contribute to training initiatives by developing materials, templates, and job aids.
