Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Working knowledge of the subrogation industry.
  • Basic knowledge of medical billing and healthcare terminology.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to interpret healthcare and benefits documentation such as EOB, UB-04, SPD, and EOC.
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage pressure and meet deadline-driven project and legal requirements.
  • Experience in a legal office or casualty/health insurance is a plus.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload from case creation through final recovery, maintaining accurate and up-to-date notes and case records.
  • Investigate and confirm third-party liability, probate matters, and beneficiary assets relevant to recovery.
  • Communicate professionally with attorneys, insurance adjusters, medical providers, court personnel, recipients, family members, and clients.
  • Negotiate and compromise claim and lien settlement amounts within applicable contractual guidelines.
  • Perform basic and advanced document review, legal research, and case analysis to determine status and support progression.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, privacy, and government security requirements when handling protected health information.
  • Contribute to training initiatives by developing materials, templates, and job aids.
