Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of shipping production systems.
- Hands-on experience building with LLMs and agentic systems, including prompt engineering, orchestration, and evaluation.
- Production-level experience with modern AI coding assistants and agentic developer tools.
- Working knowledge of applied ML fundamentals to assist in moving heuristic systems to ML-based approaches.
- Demonstrated ability to drive technical adoption across teams without direct authority.
- Strong product instincts for internal tooling, including ruthless prioritization and iterative delivery.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting to leadership.
- Prior experience in a staff or principal-level individual contributor role.
- Understanding of the tradeoffs between build vs. buy, latency, cost, and risk.
Responsibilities
- Act as engineering's subject-matter expert on generative AI, agentic systems, and AI-assisted software development.
- Diagnose team-level workflows and pain points to build a prioritized backlog of AI-enabled solutions.
- Own the AI enablement roadmap end-to-end and report on impact to engineering leadership.
- Evaluate and pilot AI coding assistants and agentic tools, driving evidence-based adoption decisions.
- Design, build, and operate a network of specialized automation agents on a shared architecture.
- Instrument and measure the impact of each automation shipped, including time saved and quality improvement.
- Partner with business and data teams to modernize heuristic systems into data-driven, ML-informed approaches.
- Define adoption frameworks and guardrails for safety, security, and cost.
- Champion AI/automation best practices through documentation, demos, and hands-on pairing.
