Requirements
- Documented professional software engineering experience with a record of shipping production systems.
- Strong Go experience, particularly for backend/service development.
- Hands-on experience with large-scale document processing and PDF structure/edge cases.
- Experience designing and implementing metrics and observability for production systems.
- Comfort with AWS serverless patterns: Lambda, Step Functions, ECS, and event-driven architecture.
- Solid database fundamentals, including schema design and query optimization.
- Proven ability to drive complex technical projects from ambiguity to completion.
- Ability to work independently and provide technical leadership and mentorship.
- Strong communication skills for explaining technical trade-offs.
- Familiarity with handling sensitive data (PHI) and HIPAA requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead the evolution of the document processing pipeline including designing Step Functions state machines and writing modular Go services.
- Solve challenges related to processing real-world PDFs at scale, including malformed inputs and structural variance.
- Build and implement operational metrics and observability across the platform.
- Drive projects from initial concept to shipped solution independently.
- Mentor and grow team members and advocate for technical progress.
- Contribute to database design and query performance tuning in Postgres/RDS.
- Manage OpenSearch indexing and search functionality.
- Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to define technical designs.
