Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- 1-2+ years’ experience in the healthcare field working in billing or collections.
- 1+ years’ client-facing or customer service experience.
- 1+ years’ experience with UB-04 billing and collections.
- Intermediate understanding of insurance payer/provider claims processing and data requirements.
- Intermediate understanding of Medicaid payers preferred.
- Strong computer proficiency including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Proven ability to meet or exceed productivity targets and goals.
- Ability to work independently as a self-starter.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Verify patient eligibility when needed.
- Analyze and evaluate Medicaid claim payments using company systems and tools to ensure compliance with state fee schedules.
- Research, request, and submit medical records and supporting documentation to ensure correct claims reimbursement.
- Review UB-04 billing components for accuracy and make necessary adjustments.
- Conduct telephone follow-up with payers to facilitate prompt reimbursement.
- Analyze assigned account delinquencies and activity to ensure timely payments.
- File and handle confidential patient health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Appeal claim denials and underpayments.
