Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in backend programming.
- Meaningful experience with Java or Scala; Rust highly desired.
- Proven experience designing and shipping customer-facing web application products.
- Experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems at scale (high throughput, high availability).
- Ability to write comprehensive Technical Design Documents (TDD).
- Hands-on experience with agentic engineering tools and workflows in production.
- Strong systems instinct with a focus on identifying root causes.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering peers, PMs, and ML/DS teams.
- BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
- Set technical direction for backend development and design scalable, reliable web application systems.
- Contribute to product development of complex, in-browser applications ensuring extensibility and security.
- Architect and implement systems applying ML techniques to large volumes of data.
- Lead and mentor the team on programming standards and agentic engineering practices.
- Balance delivery of customer-facing features with technical debt cleanup.
- Represent the backend engineering voice in cross-team planning and execution.
- Design and operate distributed systems that run reliably on cloud-services at scale.
