Requirements
- 6-10 years of experience in product design.
- Proven coding and technical skills.
- Track record of guiding visual and interaction decisions across teams.
- Experience improving design systems and addressing structural inconsistencies.
- Strong point of view on modern design tooling.
- Ability to communicate fluently and align designers, engineers, and product leaders.
- Instinct to lead and experience running a small team or function.
- Hands-on experience with Claude and Claude Code (preferred).
- Ability to write and ship production code.
- Strong understanding of front-end testing practices and code hygiene.
- Experience collaborating with distributed teams.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a founding member of Cherry's design systems team, influencing its structure and growth.
- Guide the team through the transition to AI-native workflows.
- Own the design system end to end, including the component library, tokens, documentation, and code implementation.
- Identify structural issues and align design approaches across multiple products and teams.
- Influence interaction and visual design language across the organization.
- Develop a Claude-first design system where AI agents produce on-system output by default.
- Collaborate with front-end engineering partners on component architecture and code review.
