Requirements
- 5+ years of backend/distributed systems engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in Go.
- Production experience with Kafka-based event-driven architecture.
- Hands-on experience with Python or Scala.
- Strong SQL skills.
- Proven track record of owning a production service end-to-end, including on-call rotation.
- Experience designing and operating gRPC/Protobuf and REST+OpenAPI services.
- Experience with AWS and Kubernetes (EKS).
- Active use of AI coding agents such as Cursor or Claude Code.
- Fluent in English with ability to provide overlap availability into North American hours (9am to 12pm EST).
Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and scale core backend systems including the Audience API, Audience Kafka Topics, and User Profile API.
- Build and maintain high-volume activation platform integrations and collaborate on Databricks segmentation pipelines.
- Design and operate low-latency, high-throughput microservices using Go, gRPC, and REST/OpenAPI.
- Ensure end-to-end service observability and APM using Datadog.
- Partner with Machine Learning Engineers and Data Scientists to support AI models and segments.
- Plan and execute technical initiatives with strict adherence to data regulatory laws like GDPR and CCPA.
- Lead large-scale, cross-functional engineering initiatives from design to execution.
