Requirements

  • Approximately 3–5 years of relevant experience in cybersecurity, GRC, information security, risk, compliance, or audit.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one recognized framework such as NIST 800-53, HIPAA, or PCI DSS.
  • Strong working knowledge of NIST 800-53 control families (AC, IA, CM, SI, SC, AU, SA, AT).
  • Experience developing or maintaining GRC documentation like policies, procedures, BIA, and system security plans.
  • Strong writing, analytical, and organizational skills with the ability to produce clear security deliverables.
  • Excellent verbal communication and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to take direction from senior professionals and consistently carry tasks to completion.
  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to research unfamiliar topics independently.
  • Familiarity with SEC530 and Virginia public-sector compliance (preferred).
  • Understanding of the intersection between business functions (IT, HR, Finance) and security planning (preferred).
  • Previous experience with audit planning, remediation, and documentation ownership (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Execute assigned GRC service and security planning activities under the direction of senior leadership.
  • Support security assessments by identifying risks, issues, control gaps, and remediation opportunities.
  • Maintain and contribute to core GRC deliverables including policies, standards, BIA, incident response plans, and third-party risk documentation.
  • Facilitate client meetings, document discussions, track follow-up actions, and maintain clear communication with stakeholders.
  • Support audit and compliance activities by preparing documentation and participating in audit defense.
  • Customize and deliver client security awareness training within established guidelines.
  • Conduct independent research and analysis to resolve questions and develop informed recommendations.
