Job Details

Requirements

  • Must be a current 2L or 3L student in an accredited law degree program.
  • Completed a course in copyright law (must state when and where taken in cover letter).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of basic copyright principles.
  • Well-versed in fair use analysis.
  • Strong interest in copyright law, fair use, and audio licensing.
  • Available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for 12 weeks during the summer.
  • Ability to obtain school credit for the externship or school-sponsored stipend.
  • Experience with fair use law (preferred).
  • Experience with intellectual property law (preferred).
  • Prior experience with licensing issues (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate copyright issues in audio and video content.
  • Research complex copyright legal issues.
  • Make fair use determinations.
  • Draft and organize permissions agreements.
  • Assess legal aspects of proposed licensing agreements.
  • Assist with Rights Management issues.
