Requirements
- 7+ years of professional software or data engineering experience.
- Deep expertise in SQL and Python.
- Hands-on expertise with Airflow (or similar orchestrator).
- Hands-on expertise with dbt (or similar transformation framework).
- Hands-on expertise with cloud data warehouses like Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
- Experience resolving problems of scale at warehouse, data, and infrastructure levels.
- Experience in data platform architecture, HIPAA-compliant data handling, or reliability engineering.
- Proven ability to anticipate design flaws, edge cases, and scaling issues.
- Track record of technical leadership, owning roadmaps, and shepherding designs to delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers.
- Strong judgment on AI-assisted development practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Drive the technical direction of the ELT platform on a multi-quarter horizon.
- Author design documents that anchor major initiatives and set team standards.
- Break down large, ambiguous initiatives into executable tasks for the team.
- Partner with product and leadership to translate business goals into platform strategy.
- Provide architectural guidance and make tradeoff decisions spanning multiple projects.
- Anticipate systemic risks and reliability failure modes to shape the roadmap.
- Mentor and coach senior engineers while setting the team's growth path.
- Establish standards for code quality, testing, observability, and HIPAA-compliant data handling.
