Requirements
- 7–9+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or BI.
- Deep dbt expertise (project design, incremental models, tests, macros, exposures, documentation).
- Strong dimensional and semantic modeling skills including grain decisions and metric definition.
- Advanced SQL proficiency and experience with cloud warehouses such as Snowflake.
- Strong BI dashboarding experience in tools like Omni, Looker, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Proficiency with Git, CI/CD practices, and project structure conventions.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot).
- Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders and translate ambiguous questions into metrics.
- Fast, iterative working style comfortable with ambiguity.
- Experience in regulated industries like healthcare or benefits (nice to have).
- Experience with dedicated semantic layers or metrics layers (nice to have).
Responsibilities
- Design and build data models in dbt (staging, intermediate, and mart layers) with incremental logic, testing, and documentation.
- Apply dimensional modeling and grain discipline to ensure models are performant and reusable.
- Define core business metrics consistently across the organization to establish a single source of truth.
- Classify sensitive data, maintain lineage, and define data-quality expectations at the model layer.
- Build and maintain the semantic layer to ensure metrics are consistent across all reports.
- Develop reliable dashboards and reporting using BI tools like Omni, handling row-level security and performance optimization.
- Establish clear conventions for analytics structure, testing, and CI/CD deployment.
- Review analytics work and mentor team members through code review and pairing to maintain high quality standards.
