Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Medical Billing and Coding.
- Minimum 3-5 years of teaching experience.
- Current Billing and Coding Certification.
- Ability to adhere to a weekly class schedule (Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursdays, 7PM - 10PM ET).
- Teaching certification (preferred).
- Experience teaching in a classroom or synchronous online environment.
Responsibilities
- Instruct students on medical terminology, including prefixes, suffixes, and combining forms.
- Explain the role of the Certified Medical Billing Specialist and healthcare delivery systems.
- Teach HIPAA compliance and patient rights protection.
- Guide students through anatomy and physiology relevant to medical coding.
- Demonstrate the use of ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT coding manuals.
- Analyze diagnostic and procedural coding scenarios.
- Explain the insurance claims process and resolution for denied/rejected claims.
