Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, software engineering, or related technical field.
- 3+ years of direct experience managing software or data engineers in a production environment.
- Proven experience building, coaching, and managing high-performing engineering teams.
- Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional engineering initiatives from planning to production.
- Strong technical depth in modern data platforms (data ingestion, ETL/ELT, distributed processing, data modeling).
- Experience with cloud and data technologies such as AWS, S3, Iceberg, Glue, Airflow, Spark/PySpark, or Athena.
- Solid understanding of engineering quality and operational practices (CI/CD, version control, observability, on-call).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for senior leadership and stakeholder management.
- Ability to navigate priorities, tradeoffs, risks, and decisions.
- Proven track record of improving delivery predictability.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Data Platform engineering team.
- Own execution across complex data initiatives, including planning, milestones, and risk mitigation.
- Establish strong delivery discipline by defining work and addressing dependencies.
- Maintain technical depth to assess implementation risks and validate architecture with staff engineers.
- Build trusted cross-functional partnerships to align priorities and resolve tradeoffs.
- Drive operational excellence across production support, observability, incident management, and data quality.
- Guide the evolution of the data platform including lakehouse architecture and governance.
