Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in design, computer science, or related discipline.
- At least 7 years of professional design experience for an information-driven digital publication.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating data visualization and information graphics skills.
- Proficiency in code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for desktop and mobile environments.
- Expertise in D3 and other JavaScript libraries.
- Experience with SVG animation and interactivity design.
- Proficiency in data acquisition, cleaning, and analysis using Python or R.
- Understanding of design fundamentals (color theory, typography, composition, layout).
- Ability to interpret raw data and extract key insights.
- Skilled at cross-functional collaboration and communication.
- Adaptability to feedback and evolving project needs.
Responsibilities
- Create visual designs such as charts, graphs, and interactives for digital products.
- Partner with the content team to understand upcoming stories and develop design approaches.
- Analyze, synthesize, and interpret data to be translated into visual designs.
- Deliver compelling visual storytelling to help users understand key story points.
- Design high-fidelity visuals including typography, color schemes, iconography, and layout.
- Prototype and develop interactives using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Implement interactive graphics into the content management system.
- Optimize presentation across platforms and maintain brand consistency.
