Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software development experience using one or more general-purpose programming languages.
- At least 2 years of production experience in full-stack web development, including Python, JavaScript or TypeScript, React, and React Native.
- Strong experience with backend development using technologies such as Django, Flask, FastAPI, GraphQL, and REST APIs.
- Proven experience designing and scaling relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Demonstrated ability to independently break down highly ambiguous problems, develop technically sound solutions, and drive initiatives through delivery.
- Experience writing technical specifications or RFCs and leading projects that span multiple technical domains or engineering teams.
- Strong systems thinking, technical judgment, and architectural skills, with an ability to create reusable solutions that simplify complex systems.
- Experience mentoring engineers and collaborating effectively within distributed development teams.
- Strong ownership mindset, practical problem-solving skills, and a bias toward action and continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with AWS, Docker, PostgreSQL, Redis, React, React Native, TypeScript, and modern cloud-based development environments.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain scalable full-stack applications, with a particular focus on backend services, GraphQL APIs, and Python-based systems.
- Develop reusable platform capabilities that support authentication, authorization, integrations, deployments, jobs, queues, and other shared engineering needs.
- Design and operate reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure while contributing across both application and infrastructure layers.
- Lead large and ambiguous technical initiatives by creating technical specifications, RFCs, implementation plans, timelines, and cross-team dependencies.
- Partner closely with product, design, engineering, and other stakeholders to establish technical direction and deliver complex initiatives successfully.
- Improve engineering velocity by identifying bottlenecks, automating manual processes, and establishing scalable patterns, conventions, and abstractions.
- Maintain high standards for code quality, technical documentation, unit testing, and integration testing.
- Mentor engineers and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback on technical designs, code, and implementation approaches.
- Participate in on-call responsibilities, troubleshoot production issues, lead remediation efforts, and identify opportunities to improve system reliability.
