Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant technical writing/editing experience.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word (styles, templates, cross-references, tables of contents).
- Advanced proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro (PDF creation, bookmarking, form fields, Section 508 accessibility).
- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint (workflow diagrams, organizational charts).
- Demonstrated experience maintaining a document, policy, or knowledge library with disciplined version control.
- Ability to conduct independent research, validate source authorities, and summarize findings.
- Exceptional proofreading and copy-editing skills with a strong command of grammar and style guides.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent document actions in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive data.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the CBP policy library, including document intake, indexing, version control, and archiving.
- Provide responsive customer service to the Security Operations Division (SOD) regarding policy searches and research inquiries.
- Conduct independent research and analysis to support the development of new policy.
- Validate references and authorities cited in policy documents to determine relevance or revision needs.
- Create and track routing sheets to monitor document status through review, concurrence, and approval.
- Assist with web content management, including posting, updating, and organizing policy content on CBP sites.
