Requirements
- Background in human-centered design, research, and service design.
- Experience conducting research independently using mixed-methods.
- Ability to synthesize insights into actionable, stakeholder-ready recommendations.
- Comfortable designing complex, form-based user flows and prototypes.
- Experience working within an agile team environment.
- Skilled at articulating design rationale to diverse audiences.
- Understanding of Section 508, plain language, and accessibility patterns.
- Ability to demonstrate the value of design in enterprise or government settings.
- Proficiency with tools such as Figma, Jira, Confluence, and Google Workspace.
- Must be able to travel to Baltimore, MD twice per calendar year.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and pass a federal background check.
- Must live and work within the contiguous U.S.
Responsibilities
- Work on a range of products, from custom web applications to implementations of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) enterprise systems like Salesforce.
- Shape user journeys and service experiences rather than building UIs from scratch.
- Navigate ambiguity and distill insights into actionable recommendations.
- Communicate design rationales to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate regularly across the team and with external development teams.
- Design complex, form-based user flows and prototypes.
- Engage with stakeholders and approach difficult conversations with clarity, empathy, and professionalism.
