Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biological Sciences, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in a data-intensive role supporting biomedical research or scientific computing.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and R for analysis, scripting, and visualization.
  • Hands-on experience with at least two omics data types (e.g., bulk RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, GWAS).
  • Solid understanding of statistical modeling, dimensionality reduction, clustering, and differential expression.
  • Ability to work with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data across relational and data lake environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Interest in biomedical research and ability to learn domain-specific terminology and data governance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain reproducible pipelines for diverse biomedical data types including genomic, transcriptomic, single-cell, spatial, proteomic, and clinical datasets.
  • Support NCI CBIIT labs in analysis workflows such as bulk and single-cell RNA-seq, and Digital Spatial Profiling.
  • Enable reliable data movement, ingestion, curation, and provenance tracking for long-term maintainability.
  • Apply statistical and ML methods like regression, clustering, PCA, UMAP, and classification to biomedical datasets.
  • Build and support interactive dashboards, notebooks, reports, and APIs for researchers.
  • Partner with data scientists, researchers, and government stakeholders to translate scientific needs into technical solutions.
