Requirements

- Breadth across multiple natural science fields.
- 5+ years of relevant research or applied experience.
- Track record of running independent projects from framing through delivery.
- Substantive familiarity with adversarial environments and adversarial reasoning.
- Demonstrated ability to reason carefully about hazards that lack robust historical data.
- Strong publication record on technological risk, resilience, or detection science.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Systems thinking and comfort with substantial uncertainty.
- Substantive grounding in modern AI capabilities and trajectories.
Responsibilities
- Conduct structured horizon-scanning for novel AI-enabled hazard classes.
- Investigate next-generation detection sciences and adaptive surveillance approaches.
- Pursue feasibility analyses on deep resilience and infrastructure capacity.
- Analyze biosphere-scale vulnerabilities including geoengineering and nontraditional toxicology.
- Identify and advance defensive, stabilizing, and transparency-enhancing technologies.
- Develop scientific metaresearch on evidence generation and translation.
- Build scientific coordination capacity through standards, convenings, and cross-border relationships.
- Co-author grant applications and build analytical tools for risk legibility.
