Requirements
- Advanced degree in a scientific or medical discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience in medical communications.
- Demonstrated experience developing promotional medical education content.
- Proven experience creating and overseeing materials such as advisory board programs, speaker programs, and slide decks.
- Oncology experience required, with preference for expertise in solid tumors, particularly lung cancers.
- Strong ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate complex scientific and clinical data.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with clients and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound scientific judgment.
- Familiarity with professional medical editorial practices, including AMA style, and industry guidelines.
- Experience supervising or mentoring team members is highly valuable.
Responsibilities
- Partner with senior scientific leadership to develop strategic medical communication recommendations that support client objectives and brand goals across oncology programs.
- Lead the planning, development, and scientific oversight of content for assigned accounts, adapting materials to different audiences and communication needs.
- Independently manage content development activities, including background research, scientific writing, data checking, reference annotation, and editorial review.
- Develop and oversee promotional medical education materials such as advisory board content, speaker programs, slide decks, and related scientific communications.
- Analyze and interpret scientific and clinical data to ensure content is accurate, evidence-based, clinically relevant, and aligned with communication objectives.
- Supervise and mentor Associate Scientific Directors and collaborate with internal teams, freelance writers, editors, and other contributors to coordinate content development.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining high-quality deliverables and meeting demanding timelines with limited direction.
- Apply established medical editorial standards, including AMA style, as well as relevant ethical and industry guidelines throughout the content development process.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve scientific, editorial, and project-related challenges while maintaining accuracy, transparency, and scientific value.
