Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in payments risk, merchant underwriting, boarding, or credit risk.
  • 3+ years leading teams or significant operational workstreams.
  • Deep expertise in KYB/KYC, beneficial ownership, financial statement analysis, and exposure modeling.
  • Demonstrated success modernizing legacy onboarding or underwriting environments through automated decisioning.
  • Hands-on familiarity with modern KYB/KYC, fraud, bank-data aggregation, and decision-orchestration technologies.
  • Working knowledge of card-network rules, NACHA, BSA/AML, and OFAC.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, including fluency in SQL and portfolio data investigation.
  • Practical understanding of AI and automation for risk decisioning and document review.
  • Excellent communication and executive presence for stakeholder management.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills to influence Product, Engineering, Compliance, and Finance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and scale teams across merchant underwriting, boarding operations, risk analytics, fraud monitoring, and portfolio risk.
  • Own day-to-day merchant boarding and underwriting operations across payments and future lending applications.
  • Redesign onboarding and underwriting workflows around intelligent automation and AI-assisted decisioning.
  • Define and operationalize risk appetite, credit policies, exposure limits, and approval authorities.
  • Establish effective risk governance routines and reporting for senior leadership and sponsor bank stakeholders.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to modernize KYB/KYC, sanctions screening, and decision orchestration capabilities.
  • Contribute to the design of future embedded lending operations, including servicing controls and loss mitigation.
  • Maintain compliance with NACHA, BSA/AML, OFAC, and card-network requirements across U.S. and Canadian operations.
